• Safety considerations in film interpretation environments

As per PCN GEN 24:

• Training: 56 hours of approved RTFI Level 2 training.
• Work Experience: Minimum 4 months supervised film interpretation experience (before the exam or within 12 months after passing).

Certification: PCN Level 2 certification is awarded upon successful training, exam completion, and supervised work experience within 12 months.

Important Note: Candidates must have valid near vision and colour perception eye test results before examination.

Examinations for RTFI Level 2 follow the PCN certification scheme.

The Level 2 examination consists of:

• General Theory Paper
  • Radiographic principles and image quality
  • Types of discontinuities (welds, castings, etc.)
  • Radiographic artefacts
  • Standards, codes, and acceptance criteria
  • Safety aspects in interpretation
• Specific Theory Paper

Application of the Method to the Specific requirements of RTFI Level 2, in particular making reference to those Codes, Specifications, Procedures and acceptance criteria used in industry, including the relevant control checks.

• Practical Examination
  • Independently view and interpret radiographs
  • Identify, size, and evaluate discontinuities against acceptance criteria
  • Distinguish between artefacts and true flaws
  • Produce complete inspection reports
  • Prepare instructions for Level 1 interpreters
